Gyro Tech® Upgrades Acugard 3 Swing Door Sensor System for Improved Convenience and Compatibility

Acugard 3 Sensor System
MUSKEGO, WISCONSIN... NABCO Entrances has added three new features to its Acugard Learning Sensor System for swing doors. The new Acugard 3 has dual voltage capability, more delay settings, and it can now be configured for low energy applications.

In response to the needs of the marketplace, the Acugard 3 is now compatible with both 12-24 VDC and 24 VAC power sources allowing seamless interface with all Gyro Tech equipment and the equipment of other manufacturers.

Additional delay settings of 0.5 s/1.0 s/2.0 s or 4.5 s have been added to allow installers to adjust for the varying requirements of the application. The detection pattern depth is also adjustable and allows optimization of door performance.

The Acugard 3 System consists of 2 bar-type sensors and an Acusensor 1B. Sensors are mounted to the top of the header and both sides of the door, out of the way of shopping carts and hospital beds. For low energy ADA doors, a single Acugard bar sensor can now be used with only a master module located at the leading edge of the door on the approach or swing side providing added protection for slower moving pedestrian traffic and lower cost.

When utilized with a NABCO "U" Series Microprocessor and encoder motor, the Acugard 3 sensor pattern sequentially shuts down to ignore guide rails or walls. Unlike other sensors of the same type that completely shut down at some point in the opening cycle, Acugard 3 ignores the guide rails and walls so it is able to provide continuouspresence sensing throughout the doorÕs swing cycle.

Acugard 3, like all Gyro Tech products, meets the latest ANSI and BHMA requirements. Other sensors in the line include the Acuvision Learning Sensor System, the Acumotion A Microwave/Infrared Hybrid Sensor and the versatile Acusensor 1B for for slide, swing or folding doors.

Gyro Tech® is the brand name of automatic entrance systems offered by NABCO Entrances Inc. located in Muskego, Wisconsin. NABCO Entrances is the only automatic door company that manufactures its own line of advanced sensor systems in addition to high performance swing, sliding and folding doors, and door operators. Automatic Door Sensor 1
Acugard 3 utilizes a focused infrared pattern that detects both moving and stationary objects.
Automatic Door Sensor 2
Sensors starting from the pivot end systematically adjust as walls or guide rails overlap the sensing area.
Automatic Door Sensor 3
As the door is opening, Acugard 3 detects a person in the path of the door and stops the door from opening.
Automatic Door Sensor 4
As the door closes, an Acugard 3 on the approach side can detect a person approaching and reactivate the door.
